I bought free Levis

I cannot even believe I got totally free pants this week. I have been getting Target's texts with coupons that can be scanned at the register (or so they claim). I got one this week for $5. There was also a $5 off coupon on their coupon site. Search for Target coupons. I found some pants I like for $6 something. To my surprise they were 20% off of that making them $4.99 and I used the $5 off making my pants free. They were originally $24.99. I think they are great and I may have paid $24.99. I like free better. Thank you Target.

Beware of what prints out after you pay

This week I went to Walgreen's. After I paid the register reward did not print. I talked to the manager who explained what may have happened and told me how I could solve the problem. I was amazed how polite and easy to work with he was. It is nice to know that companies stand behind their policies and ads. It is also nice to know that they value us "coupon ladies". They actually make more money from someone using coupons so it is worth their time to take coupons. We will see if I get register rewards. I do want to thank the manager for understanding.

By the way this week if you buy $25 of Huggies wipes and diapers you should get a $5 register reward. Try the coupons I posted (just scroll down). The $25 is before coupons so I recommend 2 bags of diapers and three wet wipes.

Coupons.com has a .50 off Huggies wet wipe coupon good on any size. This will make cheep wet wipes buying the travel size at Walmart or Target.

Also there is a .75 off coupon here to make them .22 at Walmart or Target.

Save Money with Coupons

I find it much easier to spend coupons then money and I love walking out of a store with lots of items while leaving behind very little of my own cash.

Tip 1: Use coupons when items are already marked down.
When there is a sale on something you want combined with a coupon items are sometimes free of very cheep. Using store circulars, blogs or other sale notifications to compare sales to coupons you have make for a lower grocery bill.

Tip 2: Organize:
*Organize coupons in a binder by date or cut out those coupons you may use in a folder. I suggest keeping all coupons until they expire because you never know when something unexpected may become free.
*Organize coupons you are taking to the store by putting them in the order you plan to use them as you walk through the store. Have a place or way to store the coupons you use and those you will not use.

Tip 3: Use Rebates:
I keep rebates I may use with the coupons. When items come on sale and there is a coupon and a rebate it is time to buy.

Tip 4: Read the fine print:
*Coupons will sometimes say with purchase of____, or have size limits this is great is the item you want fits the requirements.
*There is a differences between 10 for 10 dollars and buy 10 get $4 off. Usually if something is 10 for $10 it is a dollar no matter how much you buy. However, if the store is running a buy 10 get $4 off you need to buy 10 of the included items usually in the same transaction to get the $4 off.
*Look for limits to purchase prices. Is the price good on only one item per transaction? If so try splitting up the order. Or maybe you need 10 bought at the same time to get the good deal.
*Look for expiration dates.

Tip 5: Combine store and manufacture coupons:
If your store puts out a coupon and you can get a manufactures coupon for the same item most stores will let you use both for the same item. Watch the fine print on both coupons.

My shopping tip this week

This week I thought it was great going to Walmart. They will match competitors coupons and ads that have how much an item will cost (not amount off). I did not need very many items so I price matched and bought the lowest items from three stores with one stop. I like using coupons because you can get the best prices and have items on hand when prices seem high.

Is it worth it?

Welcome to 2011. This year many of us are trying to same money. So the question is: Is it worth couponing? I think this depends on your situation. If you have a little time you could put to this it could be beneficial. However it you are one of the select few who make lots an hour then spend your time working if you are looking at is purely financially. I have found that there are many ways to do couponing. If you only want to spend a little time and not get a newspaper you can still save money. If you want to get lots of newspapers and print coupons off the Internet then you can save more money. A great tool is finding a good website or blog that will help you find the deals easily. More on this later. I like knowing that if I use one coupon on something I wanted or needed I saved that much money. Leave your comments and let me know what you think.
